I would love to be happy right now. I want to be overjoyed that DOMA is officially dead, that the Supreme Court has called it done and overturned Prop 8, so I can once again get married in the state of my birth and my choice.

For various reasons, I can't. So I'm going to put together a linkspam. I will seperate it out into moods, for those of you who can be happy and want to stay that way. Trigger warnings ahead of time for pretty much everything involving SA, rape, and rape culture, as well as homophobia and transphobia. There's some pretty vicious stuff here, guys. Proceed carefully, please.

The Defense of Marriage Act, or part of it, has been struck down as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. There's a full write-up here, at the Washington Post. Essentially, I can get married in California now. Now if only I could get up the courage to approach the girl I have a hideous wretched crush on.

Hater Free Wednesdays got featured on the Daily Dot!</a> Need a sexist-free comic store? Check it out.

The brave, incredible, impossibly amazing actions of Wendy Davis, Leticia Van De Putte, a few of their colleagues in the Texas Senate, and the protestors in the Senate for refusing to stop talking even when it was made clear that no one was listening.

Seanan McGuire, as always eloquent and amazing, writing about why it's important to have characters who just happen to be QUILTBAG (or POC, or disabled, or mentally ill, or... you get the idea).

Kickstarter apologizes for their decision regarding a "seduction guide" that actually promoted rape culture. The apology is heavy on "we were wrong" and says they will donate 25,000 to RAINN, as well as laying out what they will do in the future. Dear corporations: this is how you apologize.

From subluxate: Riptide Publishing has an open call for submissions. The only requirements are that it have a strong authorial voice and have an LGBTQA romance. I imagine this is relevant to many of my friends' interests.

A list of 100-plus Asian speculative fiction authors. Anyone here didn't know what to read next? Might I point you this way? Plus there's free online fiction.

[community profile] readallthenewberys is baaaaaack. For those of you who haven't been following, my very good friend and housemate Justice Turtle is reading through all the Newberys and judging liveblogging and rating them. He is insightful and hilarious, and I highly recommend going over to the blog and checking it out.

My hero Jim Hines talks about rape culture. BAM, statistics.

A beautiful post exploring the poem How To Make Love to a Trans Person. Please do read it, you will not be sorry.

These last two could arguably be filed under horrific.

What if people told European history like they told Native American history?

What if journalists talked about the United States like they talk about the rest of the world?

George Zimmerman's lawyer opens the trial for the cold-blooded murder of Treyvon Martin with a fucking knock-knock joke.

The sheer lengths Texas lawmakers went to, trying to pass the bill. Most of these lengths, by the way, are illegal.

The Supreme Cour effectively struck down part of the Voting Rights Act (they did not actually strike down the Voting Rights Act, but they ruled that the map of which states need watching for discrimination needs to be changed by Congress or the act will be struck down. If you have any experience with the current Congress, you see the problem). You can already see places moving to block voting rights.

There are some frightening things going on in Greece. Unfortunately, I have no links for this, because no one seems to be clear what frightening things are happening and why. If anyone has any verifiable information please let me know so I can update.

The fact that I'm afraid to celebrate, because I don't know what they'll take away while my guard is down.

A trans* person named Beans is attempting to raise a few hundred more dollars for top surgery. The bar is currently only four hundred dollars short. We've made more impossible things happen before. Let's see if we can't help out.

All of the ways to help on Copperbadge's Radio Free Mondays. Seriously, if you have spare money and want to help out, follow him.

Cathy Brennan is at it again, filing criminal charges against a young activist woman, Phylicia Sampson, because... she's black and has few resources, apparently, and Cathy Brennan had her feelings hurt. Or something. That second link will show you where you can donate to the young woman's defense fund. Please help if you can.

A White House petition to cut funding to "crisis pregnancy centers," which basically shame, torment, and harass women seeking abortions until they agree to keep the baby.

Help yeloson punch cancer in the face! He's been diagnosed with lymphoma, which has a 97% survival rate, but is currently going through chemo, which may be worse than the disease. The fundraiser will help with his medical bills and living expenses.
